Howdy!

I just picked up a 2004 F150 FX4 5.4L a couple of days ago, and this truck is great! I traded my 2000 mustang for it. I have a few questions, and was hoping to find some answers here.

1. What exactly is the Gotts mod? I know that it has to do with the intake system, but what all does it intail?

2. Im looking at upgrading my exhaust, but im not wanting to spend more than a couple hundred dollars doing so. Im looking to run dumps under the truck and was wondering if there was any advantage to running a SI/SO vs. a SI/DO exhaust. Im wanting to run Magnaflows if that helps anything.

3. The truck with some type of leveling kit. Im thinking its either a 2" or a 2.5". Im wanting to run a larger tire, either a 33" or a 35", preferably a 35", so that when i eventually lift the truck I wont need to buy tires again. Will I be able to do so with this leveling kit?

Thanks!

1. The Gott's mod replaces the snorkel attachment that connects the fresh air tube to the fender. Do a search for pictures and write-up. A $10 - $12 mod. Grab a Amsoil Air Filter on-line and enjoy.

2. A 2.5" SI/SO Magnaflow with a SS tip will work just fine. My experience is that dumps sound less desireable than what you might think. If going with a dump just keep a SI/SO muffler.

3. Check suspension threads for advice and comments.

Welcome to the site...

Hey, welcome to the site! Tons of great info here, believe me.

I have to agree with the exhaust tip. I was considering dumps but also found out they don't nearly sound as good as other type. You may have elevated noise level in cab, but outside it will be much quieter than regular exhaust.

Also, as far as leveling kit. I have a 2.5" kit and running 33"s. The general rule is you can run pretty much any aftermarket wheel with the 33" tires, if you want to go to 35" tires you have to be more choosey if you plan to go with an aftermarket wheel. If so the wheel has to be pretty similar to stock wheel specs or you will have major rubbing with the inner fender.

Hello & Welcome Mr. DestinationFX4 !

Please accept my apologies for the well-intentioned antics of my fellow brothers and colleagues here.

They are all, without exception, very fine folks indeed - but being human each have their own personal styles.

Rest assured that, if you need info on anything - anything at all - I will do my level best to try and help you with what meager skills and limited knowledge I may have.

I wish to avoid a reoccurance of a situation where, a new member runs away to another site (such as Truck Menagerie Central) and complains about our unique culture because of perceptual vicissitudes.

Very best personal regards;

MGD
