2007 F-150 needs a Fuel Pump Control Module?
 

Has anyone else had to replace their Fuel Pump Control Module?

My truck wouldnt start yesterday so I got it towed to my local garage where they told me what the problem was...

I found it weird that when you turned the key to the "On" position and got the starter rolling, once you let off the key the stater kept rolling for about 5 seconds...

Does this make any sence? Has anyone else had this problem?

So the issue with my key being turned back and the starter still rolling is a side affect?

Hmmm... not sure about that. Do not think so. Truck usually just dies or runs intermittently.

Any codes? FPDM failures usually sets one...

Usually when I turn the key the truck fires up right away, now I turn the key and let off of it and the engine keeps turning for about 5 -7 seconds with my hand even touching the key...its weird!

Im wondering if my security system is in alarm and the fuel system has been disabled somehow?

Turn the key for a second and the vehicle turns over until it starts. All newer cars work like this. No problem there.

If the mechanic diagnosed the Fuel Pump Driver module as the cause of no fuel getting to the engine, the computer assisted cranking system would keep the starter going for up to 10 seconds, where before you never saw this due to the engine starting straight away.

Read your owners manual, page 238.

I'm like Chicken Little...I read some horror story on this site and I immediately buy a replacement or back up part! In fact, I'm going to buy new fuel injectors next week! Come to think of it, my new FCM has been sitting on my work bench since April!!!

But if it really is your FCM that's failed, I suggest contacting Domenic at Tasca. He was able to find me one plus the new standoff/spacer bolts for mounting. If still on backorder, ask him about the FCM for the F250:

Thanks for that info, thats what I figured was going on! New FPD is installed, truck is back up and running again!

4L3Z-9D370-A is the kit that has both 4L3Z-9D370-ASUB & 5L8A-9D370-AA together.
If you order 4L3Z-9D370-A & 4L3Z-9D370-ASUB you will get 2 sets ( 4 total ) of the stand off bolts.

The box had the FPDM & the stand offs in it together.

I had mine crap out over the weekend, while I was out of the country. Luckily I found a great tow dude, a great Avis and Terrace Ford in Burlington CA. They diagonsed the problem first thing Monday morning and had the repair completed by 2 pm the same day. It looks easy enough to replace for the basic wrench (me), but being 2 hours away with no tools, ......
I asked the mechanic at the dealer about a misfire I had been experiencing for about the last year. This would only happen under load, seemed like a plug misfire, he said it was probably the module. As soon as the engine was warmed up I gave it the gas and no more misfire.
This sure looks as though the engineer on this project should get a kick in the a**, aluminum housing in direct contact with the steel frame, under the vehicle in a salt spray????

Only 08+ do that.

What's the new version have that keeps the aluminum housing and steel frame from contacting each other?

I'm going to put some sort of spacer in there this spring. I checked mine last summer and there was no corrosion at all. I lower the spare and clean that area well a few times a year.

Standoffs.

I'll just use some washers to space it from the cross member. Is there a certain type that'll work best? Nylon, stainless?
