annoying squeak/rattle! HELP!

Truck is a 2007 SCAB.

Just recently I started getting a squeaky/rattle that sounds like suspension coming from my rear passenger side door or back seat. It is getting louder. I have raised the seat cushion up and down to make sure nothing was under there and to make sure the seat was tight. THe jack is tight....and no pieces of the jack are loose. It really sounds like squeaky suspension.

ANy ideas where to start to look? There is not much back there. Maybe the door hinge??

I think the leaf spring bushings can squeek after a while. I think most people lube them and they're good for about 10 mins then squeek again.

It sounds like it is on the inside. However, I will lube up the eye bushings and clamps on the leaf springs. My leaf springs have squeaked before, but I couldnt hear them on the inside of the truck.

I just need to throw my wife back there and go for a ride and see if she can find it. (there was absolutely nothing said correctly in that last sentence....haha)

I know my dads 07 had a squeek coming from the passenger seat back rest. Try putting pressure on it and see if it stops.

I had a similar noise. Turned out to be the fuel tank mounting straps were loose. Squeaked on every bump. It took me awhile to find it though, the noise seemed to come from a totally different location.

My seats made that noise when I first put them in, turned out that one of the bolts wasn't in 100% and it was making a squeaking sound.

Check around tailgate

I had a similar squeak.
I thought it was inside the cab.
It turned out to be one of the little rubber "bumpers" between the tailgate & the bed.
I gave it a shot of silicon spray, and it has been quiet ever since.

My tailgate certainly squeaks. I plan on looking into that this weekend. For some reason, it wont close all the way. It does not line up with the bed. It is about 1/8-1/4" off. That is a different issue though.

I lifted the rear seat today and drove to work like that....no change, still squeak and rattled. The squeak is definitely coming from the passenger side, so that rules out a fuel tank strap. I cant imagine a seat bolt working itself loose at only 12,000 miles, but I will look into that. I am going to hit all of the door hinges with stop creak. This is the most annoying squeak/rattle I have ever hear.

What is frustrating is....there is not much back there to make this noise!! ARGH

This was my problem. Very high pitched squeak that was difficult to tell where it was coming from, although it would get louder when I opened my back window. Treated all the contact points on the tailgate and it was gone.

Mine was the jack........

it was very tight and everything but where it touched the mounting bracket on the floor would squeak when in motion. I took a small square of cardboard and slid between the jack and bracket and it went away.

Guys,

It appears it is the jack bracket. I took the jack out today and it squeaked...less. I am going to do the ol cardboard trick and that should solve the problem.

Thanks for everyone's help!

I had a squeak. It turned out to be the tailgate. A little bit of grease on the latch was all she needed.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the jack mount is terribly notorious for squeaking and annoying the crap out of you. Mine is super tight and it still squeaks, next time I take it out I'm going to lay some rubber down to take it away.

I've had the jack squeak and the tailgate squeak. I fooled with the jack mount and found the sweet spot amount of jack pre-load to make it stop, and the tailgate squeak was cured with white lithium grease.

Bonus: if you have a rattle in the cab you think is outside the cab spray white lithium grease in the door latch area. I had a rattle that I chased for a good long while, and the last place I thought about ended up being the culprit. I had the seat out, door panel off, hunted under the truck and between the bed and cab, etc... :o
