Gas pedal mod?

Is there anyway to mod the gas pedal so there is not a lag? There is a "soft" area when you first mash the gas before the engine ever responds.

I'm not so sure that a mod for a cable controlled ranger will work on an F150 with an electric pedal position sensor (unless the OP has a heritage which he doesn't).

The lag can be adjusted by tuning but I think you'd have to find a way for a stiffer spring on the actual mechanical feel of the pedal itself.

Right on!

The only definitive way is with tuning on an ETC vehicle.

The PCM has direct control here - yer foot only requests torque - the 'puter decides how much - and when - based upon a whole host of other data from various inputs.

Think of a ship - the Helm signals 'ahead full', but the fellers in the engine room may not give a crap (or are busy takin' one).

The only way you will get rid of that lag is to get a programer. And dont waste your money on a re-flash from the dealer

I once stumbled across a Mustang forum where a guy took the pedal apart and modified the electrical contacts to make it "more responsive". He had a bunch of pictures of the whole thing.

Sorry but I don't have a link.

You could try searching for that.

Personally, I wouldn't take my gas pedal apart. But feel free to try it and let us know

You could also tie a brick to the bottom of your right foot while you are in the car.

I would think that would work.
