HID Ballast Install

Those wit HID upgrade kits... where are you mounting your Ballasts? Do they get hot? Can I zip-tie them to the frame?

Thanks

Put them anywhere really. For my headlights I attached my ballast using double sided tape. The pass side is under the window fluid tank and the drivers side I put in the slot next to the radiator. No problems in the past few months

For the heads, I tucked them on the inside of each light with that crazy-strong, 3M, double-sided tape. There is a groove there that you can rest the ballast on to give some downward support. Make sure you do some "dry runs" to check for any clearance issues before you practically cement the ballast to the heads with the 3M tape. It can be removed, but it will take some effort.

When I remove the heads, the ballasts come with them. I think it makes for a clean install as well, allowing you peak at them and make adjustments without having to remove the heads. They stay fairly dry, too.

I'll try to take pictures if you are having trouble visualizing what I am saying.

I dont trust the 3M tape....it tends to get heated up and cooled off and lose its stickiness after a few months. I lost an HID ballast on the stang that way. I zip tie mine into place. My heads are right behind the headlight housings or nearby. Fogs are zip tied above the fogs near the bumper frame
