Front and Rear diff. fluid change

This is kind of expanding on my previous post regarding the major "tune-up" I'll be doing to my 2007 Scab 4x4 5.4L. I've got everything in order, I hope, except for what I need to do to change the front and rear diff fluid. I searched this forum but didn't find much. I did find a write up through google with a rear diff change on an '01. Not sure how much that pertains to my '07 so thats why I'm back here asking the question. Is it as simple as removing the diff cover on the front and back, draining the fluid, cleaning and replacing the covers with a new gasket and filling with new fluid? If so, that should be simple to do, but I feel like I'm missing something.

Here ya go bud.

http://www.fordf150.net/howto/differentialfluid.php

Nothing has changed - except fluid type & viscosity - for those refer to yer owner's manual.

Front: 80w-90 3.7 pints

rear: 75w-140 Synthetic, 5.5 pints, with 4 oz of Motorcraft XL-3 LSD lube if it's a Traction-Lok (LS)

To determine what axle/type you have refer to this handy decoder: http://www.fordf150.net/howto/decode.php

MGD.....What would I do without you??? Your link is actually the one I was referring to, I thought it was an '01 for some reason. Glad to see that it pertains to my '07 as well. Seems pretty simple to do and I think I can handle this project. And I have a 3.73LS, so I'll be sure to get the lube.

Thanks again man!!!!

Why waste the money? You can save a lot of money and get the same results if you change the air in your tires. I didn't start driving until 1962 so I haven't needed to change the lube in the 65 or 70 vehicles I have owned. Many had over 100,000 miles on them when I bought them but only a few had over 200,000.

I changed mine around 85K or so and the oil still looked new. I put in RP oil to say the least I wont be changing it again.
