Oil change

I am currently experiencing problems with code P0022 which is related to cam posistion. Changed the two sensors to be safe. One day later I got the code again. Now I think its my VCT selonoid. Last Thursday I had my oil changed at the local Ford dealership and I am wondering if they put the wrong oil or not full synthetic like my truck requires... Could this have fouled up that solenoid?

Not likely...

No 2004-2008 F150 'requires' full synth. In fact the factory recommended 5w-20 is a blend.

Gotcha. On my reciept its says 5w20 was used. BUT... they had asked me if I wanted full synthetic or regular. There was a price difference of about $35. i opted for the cheaper. I just bought the truck a few weeks ago and was unaware of the "full synthetic" requirement. Just throwing it out there. What do you think?

I've run a Full Syn since my trucks 1st oil change! 45K later, motor is silky smooth & quiet...I really think then reason I have not experienced any VTC noise is because of the full syn 5w-20 & MotorCraft Filter combo.......

Copy that. I wonder why my dealership didnt say dude you need "full synthetic"... Onwards and upwards... Do you think that could have caused my VCT solenoid to go nuts and therefore retarding my timing hence throwing the P0022 code for retardation? hahahaha... No pun intended! But seriously, what do ya'll think?

there is not a requirement for full syn. most lube places will tell you to put conventional or full syn in it, but it requres syn blend. half conventional half syn sorta mix

Before this ends up in left field, your engine requires an oil that wears the Ford spec 930 on it. It does not have to be any other than an oil that meets spec. That can be a conventional, semi/blend, or synthetic. Most will be a blend. None, no matter what you pay for it, will add one mile to the life of your engine. As long as the oil meets Fords spec, you can't buy a better oil for your truck. I would assume the dealer knows that the oils they use must wear the Ford spec but if it makes you feel better, ask them.

Thanks... I figured as much but you never know. Just feels wierd that this( P0022) happens a few days after my oil change. I think I was wanting it to be that simple...
