Squealing Sound when shifting under hard acceleration?

Hi, I've had my truck for about a year and this summer I noticed (since I could drive with windows down) that sometimes when I am under fairly hard acceleration or WOT, that there will be a kinda squealing sound that I believe comes from the rear/middle of the truck. It is only ever the moment after the transmission shifts that I hear it, and it doesn't happen every time. It is just a brief squeal noise that only last bout half a second. The truck drives fine, and I haven't noticed any drive-line problems, I am just curious to what this could be. Thanks for any help... (btw I have an auto tranny, and 3.73 LS diff.)

I've considered that, but I have only ever heard it when the truck shifts when I'm driving it hard. It has never made that noise on start-up or when I shut it off. It could be a possibility, but I just don't understand how it could slip when the transmission shifts... Maybe because of such a quick change in rpms?

Ok, well thats good, I thought it could be something worse... But what I don't understand is why? Like I believe you, I just can't comprehend how that works. Is it because of the dramatic decrease in rpms or something?

Yup just the drastic change in rpm with crank trying to spin faster then accessories. Maybe its your tires breaking loose... hehehe

Well that's good, I was a little worried, maybe I'll get to changing that then... btw its only when it's shifting up, like 1st to 2nd etc... And hahahaha, that'd be the day! Maybe with your truck that would be the case?

yes but when shifting down the torque is not applied to the crank as when you punch it...when was the last belt change?

Ok ic, that makes sense, I was just clarifying... And I'm not sure, I've only had the truck for 24000kms, and it's at 134000kms. Is it time to do one? Thx for all the info btw.

Ok, and ya that would probably be a good idea, don't need it going when I'm at school or something. Is it something you could do at home, or do you need a special tool or something, I've never changed a belt before... And yup, born and raised. You from around here too?

Oh its easy to change. There is a spot on the belt tensioner for a 1/2" (i think its half inch ) ratchet drive...All you have to do is put a ratchet in there and take the tension off the belt and it comes right off. If you dont have a sticker on how the belt goes back in place take a picture so you can put it back in.

No i live in red deer, used to work out of whitecourt and was in GP lots for work too.

this is your tensioner and what i was talking about

Ok well that sounds pretty easy, I should do it before the -40 comes ... And Oh ok I see, I've never seen your truck around so I was wondering... Nice truck tho! Its really unique, gotta love your vents and grille, makes it look really custom... Btw, where did you get that white instrument cluster/overlay? I've been looking for something a little more "exciting" than the stock XLT one lol...
