Wires to Rear view Mirror
Wires to Rear view Mirror
I recently bought an '06 F150 FX4 and just noticed that there is a wire(s) that comes from the headliner that is headed to the rear view mirror that has been cut. Does anyone have an idea as to what these wires do??? Any help would be appreciated.
Do you have the rear view mirror that dims when lights hit it?
It could have been used for a remote start antenna, or if the previous owner mounted a radar detector or something else hardwired up there that instead of removing it, he just cut it.
On second thought, does the wire look like it is out of place? Have any pics of it?

Yes - Mirrors are auto dimming, I was pretty sure they worked (now I'm questioning that). The wire looks factory - and there seems to be a spot at the back of the mirror where a harness would plug in?? I'll try to get a couple of pics up, its not the easiest location to photograph.
The rear view mirror on my 2008 XLT has the following functions that require a connection:
1. It is auto-dimming
2. It contains whatever the sensor is for the compass reading on the dash
3. It has a rearview camera and the picture is in the left side of the rearview mirror

Thanks for the help. I wonder why on earth someone would snip the wires! I guess I'll have to hunt through some scrap yards and see if I can find a clean harness??
