Remote Start Question

Okay Guys and Gals, I know there are a bunch of posts on here about remote starts but I have a question that I can't figure out. Searched the old posts but couldn't find anything to help.

I have a BOA, model 265B, and the Interface 556U (for the chipped key)
Got it all put in but have a couple issues, and BOA's website isn't any help.
First, the truck will only start with the key in the ignition. I tried putting the interface wire loop in front of the switch like it says but that didn't work. Then I tried to splice into the factory key sensor (black/pink wire) and that didn't work either. But if I just put the key in the ignition and hit the start button on the remote, it works. So I obviously am not doing something right to make it think there is a key in there, although the Interface/immobilizer has one inside it. The wires from the Interface consist of three, black, black/white, and black/pink. Ford's website says the Key-in wire on the truck is black/pink. I found that one on the left side of the steering column, at the very back of what appears to be the ignition switch. But there are a bunch of wires, both on the front (near the key opening), and on the rear (left side steering column). Which are the correct wire/wires to connect to so the truck can sense there is a key in the Interface??
Second issue, even when it tries to start, when I trick it with the extra key, it seems to try to start for too long, and the starter grinds some. It then shuts down, restarts and is fine. Could this be that the remote start doesn't know the truck is running? My truck doesn't have a Tachometer, and the instructions say that some vehicles might not have enough voltage increase for the remote start to know it's running. Do you think this is the case? If so, how can I make it think the truck is running? Is there a Tach wire I can access, even though I don't have a Tach in the dash?
I'd love to get this thing working correct, especially before Winter gets here.
If anyone has suggestions, or a How-To post, I would greatly appreciate it.
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks
