Canceling Ford Extended Warranty

Hi guys and gals,

Sorry to say I traded the 06' Lariat in yesterday for a 2010 KR. It was (and stiill is) a great truck. I have a year left on the extended warranty I bought for the Lariat and wanted to know if anyone knows where and whom to write to cancel the warranty? There should be a few bucks there and I have just added my 18 year old son to my insurance policy with an SVT I bought him a month ago. I could use the money, really.

you might have to contact the dealer you bought your old truck or extended warranty from. i did that same thing a few years ago and the refund was based on length of time and miles covered it was a easy process.

I just went back to the dealership where I bought the truck and warranty and they did all the paperwork and I got a check in a few weeks. If that is not possible then just contact the company that sponsored the warranty, they will take care of the rest.

I know I am going to get hosed by my insurance company in about a year and a half or so. My 14 year old is going to be clammering for a vehicle and based on her current tastes it won't be cheap either.

On the other hand my son is starting college and his SVT was a graduation present. I shuddered when the insurance lady said "oh, that's an SVT, right? Please bend over sir so we can properly prepare you for the bill your getting.

Anyway, back to my original post. The warranty is a Ford extended and I bought it when I purchased the truck. The dealership I bought it from is now 2356 miles away. I was just wondering if anyone had an experience similar to mine and could point me in the right direction. I suppose I can just call the dealership and see what can be done next week.
Thanks for the help.

Can you cancel them that long after? I heard you could only cancel it up to 30 days after? I'd love to cancel mine and get some money back from it

When i bought my 03 a couple years ago i found the ford esp extended warranty papers from the previous owner in the glove box and all i did was transfered ownership to my name (30 bucks) I called my dealership and the warranty was in my name for 33,000 miles until i reached 100,000 miles. I wouldnt think you can get a refund on the warranty even if you cancel it. But im not sure. Good Luck

they would pro-rate the refund based on how many years/miles are left on it. id imagine you should contact ford directly maybe?

I went up to the dealership I got my truck from and canceled mine. It was probably around 40,000 miles and 4 years into owning the truck. They didn't give me a check back but did give me the prorated refund off the balance I owed on the truck. I though the extended warranty didn't start until after the original warranty was up. That is not the case. That is way it was prorated. I think I got $600 out of the $1200 back. But like I said I did not get a check just money off what I still owed.
