Ford Emblem/Tasca Parts trouble.

Ok. So I decided to finally replace my ugly front Ford emblem that has been delaminating, peeling, bubbling, holding water, whatever you want to call it. There are a ton of people with this issue. Ford obviously has some quality issues if they can't get their logo right.

I decided to order a new one through Tasca. However the emblem I recieved does not fit on my truck. I used their website to navigate through the options, and I chose the only emblem choice for the 07-08 model F150. I have a 2007.

Well, the emblem is the correct size, but the way it mounts is the issue. This is what the back of my original emblem looks like.

And this is what the back of the one from Tasca looks like.

I called Tasca to figure out what the deal was. Apparently, I made a mistake by not entering by VIN number. After talking on the phone for a few minutes, the man I spoke to said the emblem I recieved is for the super duty. He managed to get a correct part number for me, and I am being sent a new emblem. I am also being sent a return label for the old emblem to get a refund for the purchase.

The first emblem cost me $17.86 + $10.00 for shipping, $27.86 total.
I recieved an email today with the new charges.
For the second emblem, they charged me $31.27 + $8.10 for shipping, $39.37 total.

So assuming I get a refund of $17.86 for the first emblem, getting a new emblem on my truck has cost me $49.13.

What's really crappy is my local dealership only quoted me $31 and change. I don't remember the exact amount.

So just a heads up. Always enter your VIN when ordering through tasca, even for something like an emblem. I assumed there was only one part number for the 07-08, but I was obviously wrong.

Has anyone on here seen a tabbed version of the emblem on an F150? I have only seen the bolt and nut style. Very frustrating.

/end long rant.

Yeah, same problem with the one on FordParts.com.... Luckily the dealership I was ordering through realized the error (its the emblem for the Focus, i believe) and cancelled the original order and re-ordered the correct one. Same thing too, the original I ordered was 17 and the one I ended up having to get was 30+. The emblems are the same for the 04-08 models, I do believe.

For those wondering, the correct part number (at least the one I recently got) is 4L3Z1542528AB

Also, looks like the emblem is only 31.27, so you might get your refund once the wrong emblem is returned to Tasca.

Good that you'll get this resolved, but the error is not entirely due to your not providing a VIN. As you found, when you looked up the F150 from their online catalog, it shows the emblem at 17 and change, not 31 and change. That to me indicates they have a glitch in their database. Something that you should not be responsible for.

Ya, it's short money, but their mistake shouldn't be your problem.

The emblem on the 04 is different from the emblem on the 05-08. 04 does not have raised letters, while the 05-08 has raised letters and an "updated" look to it. I'm not sure what the part numbers are, though.

Good luck!

I didn't think it was my fault, but the guy assured me it was because I didn't put my VIN.

In an email, the part number for the first emblem is 5C3Z8213AA. I don't know how to check what vehicle it actually goes to.

The second is part number is 4L3Z1542528AB.

Unless that first emblem actually fits on an 07-08 F150, I don't see how entering my VIN could make a difference. Does anyone know how to check what vechicle that first emblem fits on? Should I call my local dealership and ask them?

I guess I was lucky on my '05, the dealer put a new one on free when it had a few bubbles on it - are you out of warranty?

The emblem on my 05 didn't have raised letters. It's the 06-08 that have raised letters.

Mine had plastic studs with nuts that gripped the plastic studs.

Cool. That's the only kind I have seen on an F150. I'm trying to figure out if there is an F150 that actually uses the emblem I was shipped.

like i said, its an error with the database. The parts guy I talked to said it belonged to a Focus or Five Hundred or something like that.

If that's the case, I will be giving them a call when I recieve the new emblem. I think I may have been charged too much.

No, the $30+ price tag is correct. the $17 one is for a different vehicle and is erroneously in the database as the one for the F150. The parts guy I talked to said that the $17 one is for a Focus or Fivehundred, so you ordered the wrong part, however, it is the fault of Ford/Tasca for listing the wrong part.

That's a fine line around false advertising, but if it really comes down to being a mistake on their side, I shouldn't have had to pay shipping twice.
