Going Electric

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I haven't been on the Forum for a while.

I have Troyer Fans in the mail, and am considering a Meziere WP346S Water Pump.

Installed in my truck is a 110 amp stock alternator, and a Duralast 850 CCA Battery.

Anybody have a problem with the fans and water pump, with regards to my stock alternator?

I also have a 300 amp Subwoofer amp, not installed yet...but soon.

All responses welcome, with special exceptions for Mod Queens.

Thanks,

I would go with a DC Controller to control the fans and the pump, Model 50P35. That controller will manage the pump and the fans together as a unit. As far as Alternator goes, I would get nothing smaller than a 130 amp unit and a full size battery (65 series). This will not be an inexpensive up-grade. I know because I did this.

Got the 65 series battery, the fans come with a controller, and the MEZ pump has a relay, and powers on when the accessory circuit is enabled.

I was looking at this HO Alternator:

The reason I recommended the DC Controller is that I would not trust the Troyer controller, I also had the Troyer fans, but used them with the DC. If you go with that high amp Alt you definitely need to do the 'BIG 3' wiring up-grade, it's in the 'how-to' section.

I hate to say this but an electric water pump sounds like a real good way to get stranded somewhere.

That is the reason I have one in the garage doing nothing. If you loose a fan controller you can wire direct to the batt to get home. If you loose the pump.....You're done !! I did have it installed for a while, then decided I didn't need the chance it might give problems.

The pump seems durable enough, but now I'm leaning away from it. Been doing some reading, and the gains don't justify it.

I know all about having a electric fan controler go out. My flex a lite fan decided to melt the controler while i was going down the road luckly i was able to keep the truck cool to get it home. I called flex-a-lite and they sent me two new controler's to replace mine. I think i am going to call it a sign not to put my e-fans back in

The newer Troyer kits have two separate controllers, in the event one fails.

I'm a wiring freak, so if I don't like the wire gauge of something, I'll swap it out.

Just bought all the 1/0 and accessories to do the BIG THREE-although I will be doing the BIG FOUR Mod.

Love that DC Controller-slick. If the Water Pump comes back into the picture, that is the setup.

Originally from Detroit, Engineers I knew were working on R/D for the big three, regarding electrically-driven accessories 15 years ago, it's coming.

But Most likely with 36V Batteries....
