if your going by the dash computer, it shows "average"
when i hit the reset button while on the highway, it jumps upto 25 mpg while running 65 mph and holds it

other wise all the short trips and to work (only a 5 min drive) it show like 10.5 mpg

the short of it is that actual mpg is not a constant thing it always changes based on your driving.

My gryphon says i only get 13 miles a gallon so it doesnt really help with gas, but it does make it go faster! I agree with the dude that said get a hoopty, like an old honda or corolla or something.

If you want MPGs and a truck, the 2011's are supposed to be alot better. Either way, I don't know anyone who buys a truck for gas mileage... although, 12 sounds pretty low... have you changed your fuel filter? Did you put bigger tires on? I would imagine you should be getting 15ish.

I'm glad I only have the 25 gallon tank, only costs me 60 bucks on average. When gas was 4 bucks a gallon though, I was very close to trading it in, although didn't because I owed too much at that point. That HURT... especially since I was only working part time at the time, and was planning for a wedding, etc.

in 09 i bought a new ranger 2.3 XL with only air and no other frills for a commuter car. after some work i got like 590 miles a tank at $40 to fill it up. but just last month i got rid of it i was not happy settling for it and am back in a f150 crew cab so i say ask your self what is important to you and stick with you decision! changing cars/trucks like i did is very spendy

I have not changed the fuel filter, but I've had bad gas mileage since day 1, even with stock wheels tires, etc. I do have larger tires, and have not changed the filter but my gas mileage has alwayas been the same?

how many miles you got on that truck? if you're over 60K, I would recommend replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs, trans. fluid, & differential fluid. A clogged or dirty fuel filter can wreak havoc on your truck, as can dirty fluids and bum spark plugs. Also, make sure the truck is properly aligned, that your brakes aren't sticking (some trucks have an issue with the E-Brake), clean your throttle assembly, and change your air filter. If none of those things help a little, then idk what to tell ya.

Also, drive like a grandma, that will def. help keep the mileage up. Just cuz you have a V8 doesn't mean you should floor it every time you accelerate

I went to look at the new mustangs last week.

Not too crazy about them, interior looks/feels like the last body style, the rear of the car is pretty fugly.

There are better options out there for that kind of money, mayb not brand new cars but a few years old.

My next vehicle will be an BMW E 46 or an 04-05 mercedes E 55 AMG

Get the V6 and call it a day. Close to GT numbers from last year and 30 MPG!
If I didn't have my 06 mx-5 miata, I would get one this year.
