04 F150 Whistle help
Need some help figuring out a problem with my 04 F150 4x4, 74,xxx miles.
Recent work done...
1. In May, had had front left hub and actuator replaced due to actuator vacuum leak as well as leaking rear axle seals.
2. Had the Cam Pahser and Lasher replacement done in June as well as new spark plugs.
PROBLEM...
When accelerating from a stop, I hear a whistle sound, almost like a tea pot when my RPMs hit the 2000-2250 RPM mark. Doesn't matter what gear it is in or if it is in 2x or 4x4. Really noticeable with the passenger window open and driving near a fence or wall. Only happens when in drive. Sound does not happen when in park/neutral and revving.
Had the truck in and they found a sound in the rear end. They replace some ring and pinion stuff but the sound is still there. I really don't think the problem is the rear end.
I really never noticed this sound until after the CAM Phaser and Lasher work was done.
My warranty is up next week. Suggestions would be great.

The whistle that I am describing is happening in warm weather. I noticed it after they did all the engine work with the cam phasers etc. I have also noticed that my coolant seems to have gone down slightly in the last month or two.
I also get the cold weather whistle. Its done that since I bought the truck 4 years ago. Not sure if they are related.
I'm bring it back to the dealer on Monday. I just want to give them a long list of stuff to check being that my warranty is done next week. I'm going to suggest them looking into both the alternator and idler/tension pulleys to deal with the winter whistle.
Just have a hunch that those aren't the problems causing the warm weather whistle. Another dealer said that he thought it was a noise from the throttle body....but that shouldn't just start in the blue...especially since it was his mechanic that did my engine work.

A whistle under the hood can be due to a vac leak. I would check the fresh air intake and any other vac hoses and tubes. I had to replace the tube/hose that goes to the PCV valve on my '02 Mustang GT so I would also check that.
