05 FX4 with Shifter Problem, need help diagnosing and part picking please
Hello all,
This will be my first post. I found this site while researching a part I think I need for my truck.
My truck has a console shifter which is stuck. Once i shift into park, it gets stuck. the shifter button won't compress to free the shifter to move to another gear. I did some homework and found out about the white manual override button on the left side of the shifter under the cover. So I've been able to get by, by just using the button to release the shifter until I get it fixed. I also read that the problem might be the solenoid in the shifter is going out..??
To you who know more than I, does that make sense?
This is a link to another post I found on this site that shows a schematic of the shifter assembly with part numbers.
https://www.f150online.com/forums/index.php
I called the Ford Store and told them the problem, I also got the part number of the complete assembly, The guy said it was 7210. Said it cost $385.00
So here are my questions;
Do I need to order up the whole assembly for $385.00 or from what I've described, is there a certain part in the assembly I can replace to fix the problem?
Thanks for any help you folks can offer,
Robert
