Blew my Transmission - Kudo's to Ford. YA!!!

Well, yesterday I blew the transmission in my 07. 99K and it's totally cooked.

I give Ford kudo's for building a pretty tough transmission. Ya, it's smoked but I was able to get it home from my weekend at the vintage races at Watkins Glen. Home is central NH, 390 miles away. It slipped and during my trip home I was able to mark locations where each and every gear finally went away.

So later today will be painful when I learn how much this will cost me, but here's another situation that my Ford Truck did not let me down. It got me home.

As I posted about a year ago, it ran 3k from the dealer but it comes with a 3yr/100,000mi warranty. The warranty was the deciding factor for me in case I have an issue far from home...
Good luck with the tranny install!

Yeah I think mine ended up running me 2200 with the 3 year / 100,000 mile warranty. But I had it installed at a buddies place.

**** happens, things break. Nothing is ever 100%, more so when you get a mass produced item like a truck.

At least it lasted long enough for him to make it home.

I don't know. the 04-07s? ( i dont know when they worked out most the problems) seem to have a good amount of problems. No doubt they're better built and better quality and stronger than any other truck made during that time but they sure have some dumb issues under the hood.

Mine went out at 72,000...gear by gear, until it wouldn't move. I too got back home. But I have 35" Nitto T-Graps, and tow quite a bit (mostly my 7,500lb boat/trailer) And I have given my truck a good deal of abuse. So, I wasn't to terribly upset. Not to mention Ford covered it, and only charged me $100. IF I would have had to pay out of pocket...the bill was right around $1,200. They said it was my clutch...I dunno, the paperwork just said something about some springs and plates and a new filter and fluid. ? ? ? But anyway, it shifts just fine now...and I don't look down on Ford too much for it. I have always serviced it to a T. In the end, I justify it like....if it were a GM/Toy/Dodge...my tranny wouldve been trash a lot earlier, and prob. much more too... I bleed blue!
