2005 Check Engine flash but no code set

This one has several people scratching their heads around here.

2005 F-150 5.4 4WD auto. 160K on vehicle, 15K on short block

Intermittently but reoccurring problem of a check engine light flashing amber, not red, and loss of power / rough running. Usually happens when under power pulling a trailer, but has happened once or twice without. Kind of reminds me of trying to fill up in the winter and leaving the truck running :o.

The weird part is that THERE ARE NO CODES LOGGED FOR THE EVENT !!!

The only thing I can think of is that it's been a while since I changed the fuel filter. The only thing I can think of along that line is that it is starving for fuel under power. Was going to check the fuel pressure when I get under there as well. Just have to find the book to tell me what kind of pressure the in tank pump should be putting out.

OK, reading another post on injector problems and was wondering, would a stuck injector have symptoms like this? Again it seems to only happen under power.

Might be the plugs.....mine misfired really bad under load i.e. WOT entering the expressway. CEL would flash, dealership couldn't find a hard code so the shop foreman hooked it up to a computer, drove it and found it needed to have the plugs replaced.

when the light flashes and then it goes out its a random multiple misfire I have had this on my truck but only at WOT one time it was a plug the next time it was a coil pack.

Plugs were recently replaced by the dealer.

Had a mis-fire on three cylinders after the short block install, but they set codes and were individually replaced and stopped seeing COP codes.

Weird thing is with the exception of the two times, it always happens under load, but not with any consistency I can come up with.
