2006 hidden winch mount *PICS*

I finally got around to installing my winch mount that i fabbed up awhile ago, made two different ones, the first was a little small and was more or less just used as a guide for making the final one.

Anyway, i just decided to use the existing holes in the frame for the mount and mounted it between the frame. It holds really well with the test i did and will hopefully be able to use it this week sometime if i can get some free time. I am also going to mount the control box up under the hood, i am working on the wiring right now but it will be easy to access. Also as far as the fairlead i have yet to install that yet, when i go home sometime i will fab up a mount for that. but here are the pics. The winch is a smittybilt 10,000lb winch.

mount

hook i mounted on the guard.

if you want more pics of different angles or whatever just tell me. don't know if anyone will.

Looks as if its mounted below the bumper opening, so when you reel in its going to be going over the bottom of the opening and scratching the **** out of it. Am i correct, thats the way it looks in the picture.

Love the hidden factor, definitely going to have to add a fairlead in there somewhere. I'm curious to see how you like the smittybilt. I've been looking at putting that on my truck.

At the angle that line is at, I'd like to know how you plan on pulling something without ripping up the front bumper and your grille guard as well...

originally it was going to be level with the bumper opening. but because of my grill guard it is blocked. So i decided to put it a little lower. I am going to be getting my bumpers coated in line-x so because of this i am going to cut a small area out of the bumper and make the opening a little bigger for the fairlead and get it coated. so hopefully it won't look terrible, but if it does then i guess i will be getting my custom bumper built a little faster

yeah i will get some more tomorrow morning and post them up later in the day.
and its not hard making them at all. if i didn't have the brush guard i would have made the mount not as tall so the winch would have sat higher and the fairlead would be mounted right in the middle of the bumper opening. oh well i am happy with it, and once my bumpers get coated it will be done
