which is the better manual Chiltons or Hayes?

factory service manual hands down.

although they are expensive if bought through helm, they usually pay for themselves quickly, but there's plenty of used ones on e-bay too.

I got paper copies of the manual for my mountaineer, although after a CEL, I realized emissions trouble shooting wasn't part of it.

I bought the cd for my 01 stang, but that interface is seriously clunky, and it won't run on 64 bit machines. I got what appears to be a 2000-2004 ford dvd for the truck and that works pretty good. Still could use some UI work, but not bad.

I tell you what I miss full color wiring diagrams like back in the day, especially now that it's e-copy and not real ink.
