30K Service.

Odd but nice experience at dealership today........

My 08 5.4 was in the dealership today for a 30k service, the service Manager took my details and asked what i needed done.
This is what i thought i needed.
Trans flush
Fuel filter (i changed this)
Air filter
Oil and filter
Tyre rotat
and ford service checks ect ect.
New Ford badge
fix door rattle

He told me my truck does not need a trans flush,it's due at 60k? I asked if he was sure and he showed me a chart for f150 service and it states 60k.
Fixed the rattles in the doors.
New badge
30k service
My total bill was $0

Service Manager told me it's free of charge because i'm a valued customer and have a nice day.

Interesting...my service manual that came with the vehicle says that a tranny oil change is needed. You shouldve insisted.

But at least you paid nothing for everything you DID get!

Off ford website, service schedule for f150 ,RWD,5.4, Normal driving conditions, fuel type=gas, trans=auto.

30,000 Mile Service Schedule
Replace fuel filter
Inspect automatic transmission fluid level (if equipped with underhood dipstick)
Perform multi-point inspection
Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage,ball joints,suspension joints,half and drive-shafts and u-joints
Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system
Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields
Inspect engine cooling system and hoses
Replace engine air filter
Change engine oil and replace oil filter . Perform at specified mileage interval or every 6 months, whichever occurs first
Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise

All that being said i've read different to what ford is now saying.

ATF changes are 30k under severe service, 150k under normal service. In my opinion, 60k is fine unless, of course, your usage meets the definition of severe service.

Once again, as already has been posted, here is the link to the Ford service schedules. Not from a dealer or shop, from Ford.

http://www.flmowner.com/servlet/Cont...CalProcessPage

Interesting that on the newer trucks they say 150K before an ATF change and my 2005 gets it every 30K. I wouldn't wait that long, but that's just me. Pretty cool that the service was free.
