towing question

so my fx4 died on me in the middle of the street. had check engine p0345 p0340 on. but the truck was running fine. so hard to say if its connected.
today though after i came out of plaza it started to make this loud ratling noise coming from the engine at low rpms , i tried to make my way home. when driving faster than 20km/h it was driving as usual. but cought few red lights and and few minutes later loss of power and engine stalled.
anyway the tow truck driver that picked up my truck didn't use the dolly, just put the truck in neutral gear, switched to 2 (rear) wheel drive mode and towed to the garage maybe 8 kms.
can there be damage done to transmission or transfer case if towed for short distance at around 50km/h speed?

IT can screw up your tranny, i would've had some words for the tow company if they tried to do that to my truck. If he had to tow it the way he did he shouldve pulled the drive shaft

King ranch you scare me already.
4x4 is all new to me, didn't know that is has to go on dolly or flatbed.
but does less than 10 km can really do any damage. if yes how big and what exactly can go wrong
hope i don't have to learn the hard way.

Im surprised that no one else has helped yet, my understanding is if the truck is not running and in neutral and the truck is getting pulled the torque converter is not moving the tranny fluid threw the transmission so your gears and all that are getting hot because no fluid is circulating. with that short of a distance im thinking it really didnt do much if anything. You should be alright. Just cant believe a tow company would tow a truck like that.
