Need Help!
I have a 2008 4.6L F150 STX.
92K miles
I have an aFe intake installed, new spark plugs and lines installed, Flowmaster 44 Series Muffler, and I just ran seafoam through the truck about 1,000 miles ago. Oil has just been changed.
I bought this truck 2 months ago with 90K miles after test driving it for 3 days (family business). It has run great with absolutely no issues.
Well today I am leaving to run some errands and while going up a small hill right out of my drive way the engine will rev up, but it is moving. Eventually I hear deep grind/popping noise and it starts moving fine.
It did this one more time on a straight away after a stop light.
(Everytime it happened it was from an almost complete stop)
Then I drove around for a good hour and it never happened again.
My cousin is in the car business and he said it sounded like the transmission which is what I thought.
He suggested we flush the transmission fluid and change the filter and use Lucas Oil on the rubber rings.
I can install most anything in an engine, build the interior of car, do any sort of computer or electronic work, but if there is one thing I know almost nothing about it is the transmission.
After doing some reading some people had issue with the Torque Converter around my mileage.
I was just wondering what you guys think it could be.
I just bought this truck so I really don't want it to be a lemon. I got a REALLY good deal on it and so far everything has been in perfect shape and even if I have to replace the entire transmission it will still be a good deal, but I just don't want to have to that so early on. Hell maybe it was a fluke, but I don't believe it flukes; they are usually a sign of things to come.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for the help.

Pull the tranny dipstick.
What's the fluid look like?
Bright red indicates good.
Brownish color with burnt smell indicates time for fluid and filter change.
When the filter is changed you'll have to pull the pan pay close attention and look for debris like metal pieces.
Also check the entire driveline including the ebrake.
Of course there could be something else worn or damaged in the tranny that maybe not indicated by fluid color or smell.
