Question Those who accomplished the plug change

I'm ready to do my 07 FX2 with 52000
Everything look accessable BUT the passenger side rear.
Can that computer be taken down without problems, what is the Big A$$
harness over the COP?
I'll use a bottle of seaform too and soak it with PB Blaster
Any other trick to try?

Stealership said to use quick impact to break plug free.
anyone else do that?

Do not use PB Blaster. Use Carb cleaner. Take the PCM loose and shift it to the side out of the way.

I have an 04 and changed the plugs at 85,000 miles, and 6 out of 8 broke on me. I did use penetrating oil also.

Should have used carb cleaner like the TSB says.

Not always true. Ive come to find out after reading post after post on this board and others, a lot has to do with the person doing the work.

Anyways, I sea-foamed my truck 2 weeks prior, ran carb cleaner through tank of gas, used PB Blaster after backing out 1/4 turn then let sit for 35 minutes at which point I tightened, back out, tightened and then backed out at 1/4 turn (click on the ratchet) and that was done on a cold engine although it was 104F that day.

Worked fine:

Like XPerties I used PB Blaster and took my time. Only broke one. F the TSB - its written by the same company that gave us this lousy plug design (not to mention they hope to sell a few extra cans of their carb cleaner in the process).

BTW - these plugs had 110k miles on em.

i am surprised that more people don't try the Kroil. It is a penetrating oil that actually dissolves carbon deposits. It even says it on the bottle. When i removed my eight plugs the carbon was actually dripping off of the plugs. is there some bad info on the Kroil that i don't know about???

In the first TSB, Ford said to use Kroil. In the second TSB, they changed to carb cleaner. It was thought that it was probably because Kroil was more of a lube and not pure solvent. Personally, I think a combination of the two would be best. Start off with Kroil and once you get them broken loose, switch to carb cleaner.

SP-515 is the latest recommendation from Ford for our problem engine. It replaces the SP-507.

No, the 515 is a double platinum, the 507 is a single platinum. They both are the so-called "improved" design.

Can someone give me the item/part number for the Lisle tool? I've been to a local parts store and I'm not sure they understand what I'm looking for. I'm gonna change mine soon, probably after January on a warm day, if there is such before April.

Thanks for the help,

David

glc,

Preciate that. That saves some time and a headache, at least aquiring the tool. LOL!! Based on my luck, I'm sure the plugs are gonna be a major PITA, but I expect it so....

Any particular brand of carb cleaner that ya'll recommend? I keep PB Blaster on hand, so got that covered.

Thanks,

David
