No doubt.

I still think it's sad that we have/need threads congratulating each other every time one of us completes a plug change without breaking plugs.

It sure beats a sympathy post when we see someone that says they are going to remove the heads!

True. A simple plug change shouldn't lead to that kind of aggravation in the first place though. Double

I could not agree more, but it does make it exciting. Triple

i did apply the nickel anti-seize on the plugs.

i am hoping that the Motorcraft Plugs come out ok next time. The way i see it, is that if can get them out with no factory applied anti-seize, then in theory it should be easier to remove them now that they have antiseize on them. i probably will not wait 70,000 miles to take them out also!!!

I never get tired of seeing successful plug changes, in lieu of the sad $1000 repair jobs. Us guys work to hard to spend that much money, just to change plugs.

i do know this, this website is awesome. without a message board like this, alot of people would be ignorant to the fact that there is even a problem with the plugs!!!! Thanks again guys for all the good info on this site.

A couple guys around here have pulled their plugs since installing them with the anti seize and they came out with no issue. So it does work, you should be breathing easy the next time.

One thing I'll never get used to is all the squeaking and popping the stock plugs do when you turn them. Including mine, I've pulled them on three 5.4's so far, all successful. The scariest part of my plug project was the way they would pop when the plug broke loose. More then once I thought it broke. I would turn the plug a quarter turn, then turn it back in, turn it out, spray it, then turn it in. I was patient, followed this process for each plug and they all came out unbroken. It was the most stressful plug change of my life.

Click on the search button above, then use the Advanced search to find info on sparkplugs for the 2004 up. Use some of that swiftvision to read all the posts.

whats the part number of the replacement motorcraft plugs?

I believe that SP-507 is the original plug, but can't seem to find the new and improved plug.

I'm pretty sure that is the only one available. Not sure what you are looking for in "improved". back in about 2006, they changed the plug temp range and I think it is the SP507. That has been the only change.

Doesn't necessarily mean that BP gas doesn't meet those standards, it only means that BP hasn't bought into the top tier initiative. The oil companies all have to pay for that testing.

I think I'm confused! I believe that there was an original spark plug (SP-??), then the replacement plug (SP-??), which are two different part numbers. To make things even more complicated, the motorcraft website gives another $27 plug (SP-515) as fitment for the trucks.

Can someone help me understand this? Do I have this correct or am I way off??

Maybe that is the plug for the early 2008 and up, the new head design.
