Unhappy Window fell down

Well . I guess it is my turn to get the ole window regualtor problem fixed.
Ran the drivers window down this evening on the way home from work and you guessed it , it would not come back up. Boy does it make a noise in there when they fail. Going to the dealer in the morning. Are there any tips that may come in handy when getting this fixed. Does Ford have a better replacement regualtor or is it the same as the original . By the way my truck is an 05 , with power windows and only 42000 miles on it . Go figure!!

Sounds like mine. It sounded like a gun going off in the truck when it failed. I did the repair on my own with a Ford replacement a few years back. Works fine since.

had my passenger rear go out a while back and learned all about this. when my truck got broken into a few weeks ago, i had them replace the driver front regulator on insurances bill because i convinced them that it had gotten damaged in the break in. haha. got a few more miles outta that one.

I bought mine at the dealer. You can now get them at parts stores and save a little money. They are made the same, I think. Pretty flimsy design. You can save about half the cost doing it yourself.

Well for what it may be worth !!! After a taking the truck back to the dealer I bought it from , I got my window fixed. they had to install a complete new regulator assembly . Total cost out the door - $388 and some change.
I already have a plan in place for the next time this happens , because everything that I have read on this forum tells me that it will happen again.
I wish some aftermarket company would come up with a better replacement assembly. Seems to me that there is a market for them.
