Just did my plugs at 103,000. It took four hours. Had one get stuck. Its really not bad if you have the tool, but like BlueJay said, make sure you soak them in Kroil. That is what I attribute to the simplicity of the job. That stuff works wonders.

Also make sure you blow all the crap out of the hole before you soak anything. I had a ton of stuff stuck in there. You dont want all that falling into the cylinder.

So you would have bought a completely different vehicle just becuase of a issue that should come up probably 2 times the entire time you own the truck?

Wow.
Sorry to say but yes I should would of. You have to think at the time I/we bought our trucks there were no really solid way of getting the plugs out of the truck without breating them in the heads! At that time people were paying over $1,000 to get the plugs out of the heads! So yes I would of NOT bought my 05 F150 truck when I did in 2006 If I would of known abou the plug issue.

Dont get me wrong I love my truck but just dont feel a what 1-2 hours plug change
and a $40.00 plug change in 2-4 years is worth paying a few hundred dollars and maybe more when needed and not know a good way to remove them!

As you can see from the guy in this post he is going by the sheet and took two freaking
hours to change 2 freaking plugs is BS!!!!!!!!!

And just think before all the trail and error till this day was costing people over $500 to 1,000 from the stealers to remove broking plugs from the heads. Im sorry to rate but this is just wrong!!!!!!!

The time he is taking is abnormal. People change them all the time in 2 hours or less. I used to have to change points, plugs and condensor every 12,000 miles and wires about every 36,000. It would take an hour to do so. I now change every 96,000. So in my old cars, I would have 8 hours time in what now takes about 2. I am happy with my truck. The plug design was stupid, but I am glad I bought this truck. I love it.

well then clearly you wouldnt buy a toyota because of the computer issues. O, and dodge has the front wheel bearing, air bag, seat belt, and transfer case issues so they are out of luck too. O and chevy has the overheating issues. damn. Thats all bs. hmm. im pretty sure isuzu has a good little truck

seems more like a car guy now that i think about it.

Actually, the little Isuzu Rodeo I had before my screw was a pretty darned good little truck. The construction quality makes my screw's look sloppy (and the screw isn't at all shabby). I had only one thing go wrong with it (cam sensor) and it was covered by the warranty. I replaced it because it was just too small and I missed having a truck bed.

I cant remember what year it was my first F100 I think it was and think it may have been a 302 motor but was a clutch with the shifter on the steering colum. It was a SOLID truck! My 1998 F150 was too I chould change the pulgs in no time on both!!
I still love my F150 2005! ; )

You are already past due most likley - ground strap/electrode wear = gap growth. Ford now recommends 60K intervals.

The sooner the better = more chance of success ( liike 1,000 miles to apply the anti-sieze)

There is NO way I'll ever leave a plug in for anywhere near 100K - period.

FF301 Groove ford an Arapahoe RD, they got 7 of mine out, 1 broke, going to try to work on it this morning. If they can't get it head comes off. All at no extra charge! They even gave me a rental car no charge. The service guy I went thru is named Jim.
