I want to replace front lower bumper!

I currently have the chrome front and rear bumper...i dont like it. I am looking on the OE replacement websites but am confused as to what I need to buy, I want to take the chrome one off and replace with a painted one...am I replacing the "bumper" or the "bumper cover"? Go to this link and look on the left side, there is bumpers and bumper cover categories, what do I need?!??

What you need is the actual bumper itself.

you can have them sand blasted and powder coated to match the paint. for about $150 a bumper.

Try PartsTrain.com or PartsGeek.com if you'd like to get paintable bumpers.

The bumper has three pieces
- Upper bumper / upper valance - the painted part that lines up with the fenders, lights, and grille

- Bumper / Bumper cover - the steel / chrome part
- Lower bumper / lower valance - the black plastic part at the bottom of the bumper

Sandblasting the chrome bumpers is an option, but the lowest price you'll see to have it properly repainted is going to be a lot higher than 150 bucks... i just paid 1200 to have my XL bumpers re-painted to look like an STX (that is paint alone, $1600 if you count the parts i needed.).

Also, if you are going to buy new bumpers, what is the year of your truck?

If it is 2004 or 2005 (some early 2006's) you can only mount the 04/05 bumpers (front and rear) on your truck

If you are 2006 (built after Aug 9, 2005) to 2008 you can only mount 07-08 bumpers.

Be sure to check that info before purchasing.

So can I get some user confirmation that this item is the piece I would buy to take off my chrome from bumper and put this in its place, it is the 4th one down from the top: http://www.discountbodyparts.com/cat...Bumper%20Cover

it was the upper bumper, bumper cover, rear bumper, grille, assembly, and included the refinishing (sanding / re-priming) of the ****ty gray color xl bumpers, and a new rear step pad...

unfortunately, not everyone 'knows a guy' and can get a deal... you take your truck to any reputable body shop (aside from Maaco), you're going to pay 300 - 500 per bumper. this is for a two stage job, as well as refinishing (sanding / priming). if you can take the bumpers off / apart yourself, then you'll save a significant amount on the $50-70/ hour of labor.

if you can get it cheaper than that, you're pretty lucky.

That is correct, assuming your truck is built after Aug. 2005.

Yes, the build date for this truck was 11/05. I took the chrome bumper off this evening and the black steel bumper is on the way. The chrome one is in excellent condition as is for sale, make offer + shipping.

So I figured I'd follow up and show the finished product after buying new 1 and PTM. I am very pleased with the results.
