tripometer

2006 F150XLT Where is the tripometer. The dealer couldn't even find it. It has the basic display with temp and compass. Odometer does not read 10ths and owners manual says there is a button to push, but no button.

It should be right next to the readout. That's where mine is. The thing I don't like about it, it won't stay on the trip meter after you shut the truck off. I usually left my old one on that so when I got gas I'd remember to check my mileage if I wanted to.

Fuelly.com bro!

To the OP, like roush9799 said, the black button is right next to the read out UNLESS it was broken off.

Can you post a picture of your instrument panel in the area of the odometer readout?

You can't post pictures directly from your computer.

Upload them to your album here on this site or host them on a photosharing website such as Photobucket.com or Imageshack.us

Ok, are you sure yours is an XLT, because that looks like a lariat cluster. Did you buy it new or used? If its used then: If it is a lariat cluster, then there should be 3 buttons under the cluster on the right hand side, beside the steering column. If you have an XLT, looks like someone swapped a lariat cluster in there and didn't finish the job by added the required buttons. If this is the case, I'd get the dealer to pull the mileage from the PCM and make sure they match up. Just my opinion.
Ofcourse, I may be absolutely wrong and if I am, someone tell me.

Do you have the "Info" and "Reset" buttons to the right of your steering wheel? If so, press the "Info" button until you see the trip meter.

Yea that is a Lariat cluster.

If you bought that truck new you got issues. But if its used seems like someone swapped in a Lariat cluster.

I would also do what Btownford said and get the dealer to run a scan on it to pick up how many miles are actually on the truck what the PCM reads to see if they even changed the miles on the cluster when they put it in.

Ok well according to owners manual this is the "luxury instrument cluster" what ever that means. Thanks everyone for trying to help but no button, no tripometer.

I've never heard of a luxury instrument cluster, in an xlt. Try getting the dealer to run the VIN and bring up all the original equipment the truck came from factory with. Then we shall know what we are working with.
