Think I might buy this truck..

So, just sold my 2008 XL 4.2 V6 2wd with 25k miles for $13,500.

I'm considering buying this truck below. I wanted a 2010.. but a 4x4 seems like a better choice. It's a 2008 XL 4.6 V8 4x4, 9k miles, tow package, clean one owner carfax and still under bumper to bumper for a year. I can get it for only $13,200!! I like that it has chrome bumpers. It'll take a lot less work making it look like an XLT. My only dislikes are the long bed, the running boards, and the fact that it has vinyl seats. I have cloth now.

why don't you just buy an XLT 4x4 with a v8?

X2

You can get a XLT without the long bed and some 17" alloy wheels for less than that. 2 years ago when I bought mine, I got it for $10K. Just wait for the next fuel crisis!

Yeah, but yours is 2wd and this is a 4x4. Around here, 4x4 raises the price quite a bit.

For an XLT 4x4, I'd be paying a lot more. $13,200 is super cheap for a 4x4 around here.

Where in Ny do you live? you can fin good deals one 4x4 its the matter of looking for them. There's some 07 Fx4 for 15-16 in central ny. Get to know a private dealer and have him look for a truck for you at the next dealer auction and they can give you a really good deal.

Not a fan of the color, but 4x4 is a huge upgrade over 2WD...

Thanks man!

It's a steal honestly.

To everyone else, I promise there's no way I'm going to find an '08 XLT with only 9k miles for anywhere near this price. In fact, most of the XL 4x4's like this one are normally $16k and up in my area. The truck market is hot right now. I'm getting $13.5 for my truck and I paid less than that new. I'm simply looking for 4wd and a V8 engine. This one even has cruise.

I'd love an XLT, but I know I won't find one for anywhere near this price. Not to mention, I'm selling a V6 2wd and getting a V8 4wd and making a few bucks on top of that.

My whole plan was to get a 2010, still could.. but it would be 2wd. I live pretty far north and 4wd would make my life a lot easier in the winter.

If you're not attached to the short bed, do it.

The long bed has been convenient for me with moving (can fit a full size sofa and a love seat with the tailgate closed) and a few other things like that, but is also too long for me to park in the garage. Cornering is also slightly harder, but not significantly.

4x4 is the one thing I really wish I had (Wisconsin winters, much like New York's can suck with rear wheel drive).

If the price is right, go for it.

This is a good idea.. but I don't really want a truck from an auction. They have usually been in an accident and/or were used as a rental/fleet vehicle. Clean title sure... but not something I have any interest in.

Not a public auction... a dealer auction. Dealer auctions are when dealers can't sell a certain vehicle they put it inside the auction for another dealer to pick it up and try to sell it. I have a good friend that owns his own and was going to pick me up a brand new Fx4 back in the day for a really good price but I found my Fx2 for a really good price and didn't need it. (found it the weekend before he was going to go look)
