Cam phasers and injectors...

K for all of you out there that have had either one of those replaced or both, will you put how much it cost out the door, if dealer did it or local shop and what year of truck and how many miles.... reason why i am wondering is cause i have a 2004 with 112k miles and they are both going out, dealer quoted me 1600 for both and just wondering if that a usual amount people are paying or if they have got them done cheaper doing something different... thanks alot for the help...

Why would you need new injectors?

Injectors make a ticking noise. That's totally normal. Get another opinion about the noises. Some of this stuff is normal and nothing to worry about.

FWIW, injectors are a pretty easy thing to swap out in your driveway. If you must replace them, I'd do the job myself.

The injectors are easy to do yourself. For the cam phaser job you can rent a timing chain wedge here http://www.shopfreedomracing.com/Tim...?categoryId=-1

Local Shop He's done all the work on my truck. He was the head diesel mechanic at FORD but once the closed the local one to make one big central dealership he opened up his own shop. He is completely certified for the triton and powerstroke engines so I trust him with my truck anytime!
