my f 150 5.4 started stalling and sounds like a tractor when it warms mostly when in reverse. check engine light came on took it to the local dealer they are telling me that i need a new engine something to do with the oil isn't getting were it need too.Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem had the cam phaser changed 30,000 km ago and spark plugs about 10,000 km ago she is now sitting with 130,000 km

 

my truck stalled a couple times way back. cleaned the throttle body and it solved that.

 

thanks gonna give that a try but did it rattle and lose power sounded like a old diesel

 

eh, i know the sound. i dont remember though. its worth a shot regardless.

 

Diesel engine sound might be cam phaser...mine also would die without warning and for no reason, then start back up and sound as if it was flooded....finally thru an engine code and was the throttle body/throttle position sensor. Changed those about 6K miles ago and haven't had a problem since. (changed TPS, cleaned and decarbed throttle body)
