Slow Throttle Response

I have 2008 FX4 Super Crew with the 5.4 I have had the truck for about 2 months now, and I really like it a lot. Sometimes I notice a slight bog or slow response when I hit the gas. The truck just hit 20,000 miles. Any ideas?

Mine was the same way...takes about a second to kick down a gear before getting power....dangerous getting on the freeway or passing as you have to wait for the truck. Programmer solved all my problems, wouldn't drive my truck without one. Look at the Edge Evo or Gryphon. You will be happy with the results. You can try having your dealer update the PCM to the newest software as well. Sometimes will cure the issue.

As Crstfr said, it's due to the "new" throttle-by-wire setup. Getting a custom tune can resolve the problem. Search around the Chips, Tuners and Programing forums and you'll find more than enough info to solve your issue. I used Troyer Perfomance, long waits, but outstanding results.

The truck is still under warranty, so if I can get the dealer to solve the problem for free, I would rather do that before I buy a programmer. I dont know anything about programmers, or know anyone who has one. Can I go to the dealer and ask for them to update my pcm?

Back before I bought a programmer, I went to my dealer and tyold them that the truck was going to get me killed if they didn't reflash it with an update. They did so under warranty. It helped a lot, but nothing like a tuner.

Yes you can. Will it help? Maybe, maybe not. Do yourself a favor and do some research on here, many many users have programmers (custom or otherwise) and are very happy. From what I've heard, no factory flash has come anywhere near the quality of a good tuner.

His truck just hit 20k miles. Unless he's been driving though nothing but dust storms and the like, there should be no need to clean the anything like that yet.
