2004 f150 triton 3v spark plug removal

Hello all! This is my first post!!

Anyway, so I was going the change my plugs in my truck and found out all the problems out there. I read carefully, dotted my i's crossed my t's added a little prayer, and went for it.. Well, I only broke 1 plug. Of course it was the last one on the passenger side...

So I ordered the Lisle 65600 tool, should get it tomorrow, and do the job. After much searching, I have a question that I can't find the answer to..

Here it is.. the plug left is still intact minus the threaded nut. Besides the nut, I have a whole plug left. Is this tool meant to work with the entire plug left behind or am I supposed to break off some porcelain first? Once again, the plug is whole, minus the threaded nut left behind..

I think you need to break the plug, i'm getting ready to do this my self soon. Here is a link that may help.

I know this is a late response but for others who may have a plug break this way... I would try to use long needle nose pliers to remove the porcelain/whole inner plug by pulling it up and out of the electrode shield. If you simply break it off, it will surely leave a piece lodged in the electrode shield. If this happens you will need to extract the broken porcelain before you can get a thread tap on the electrode shield. Or with the Lisle tool you can push the porcelain down to make enough room for the tap and shield extraction tool. I think the TSB recommends pulling it out with pliers also.

With the Lisle tool, you actually push the porcelain down a short distance and then get a couple of threads started in the metal sleeve.
