Dealer only bolt? 31$!! Any other options?
Dealer only bolt? 31$!! Any other options?
Long story, but had to remove smaller jump seat out of the back of my 04 F150, spilled gas on it. So I removed the torx bolt form the side, removed the seat, cleaned it, let it air out, ready to put it back in.
Bad news is I lost the torx bolt somehow
So I went to the dealer, the found the part, but its a $31 bolt, of course.
The part number is 4L3Z-1860108-AA
Any chance of finding it somewhere else or finding a substitute cheaper?
I know the answer is probably no, but thought I would check..
Thanks!

Per your part number, it is listed for 13.10 at Tasca.

And if you do the hardware store, make sure you get the grade 8 hard bolts. Otherwise it could just shear off in an accident.

I would go with the Ford part on that one just for the liability reasons. Not that youwill ever be in a wreck with someone in the back seat, but luck would have it that you replace it with a hardware store bolt and the unthinkable happens.
check the thread and size of it and let me know i have a few torx bolts for the 97-03 MY that i got extra from a yard because i had to pay 10 each for some last yr.
but otherwise id go with tasca

As long as you know the thread size just get the same size from your local hardware store but with a standard head. To be safe make it a grade 8. There isn't a liability issue as long as the fastener yield strength is greater than or equal to the original. Ford probably used a torx head for ease of assembly in that particular operation most likely because another fastener in the area used the same size fastener. Additionally it is probably a torx head to prevent the "idiot mechanics" from taking it out accidentally. I seriously wouldn't worry about liability. I've replaced several non-standard head fasteners on my truck with standard ones and haven't had any issues.
