New Electronic Mod to my truck

I've had a Garmin Nuvi mounted with velcro in the tray on my dash. I picked up an Archos 250 gig tablet for my music and decided to make a custom mount. I started with 3/4 MDF and shaped it to fit the tray then made a skeleton out of plywood and paneling. I used the foam that the toys came in to made a friction mount for the Garmin and the Archos.

I covered the sides and top with old paneling for support for the simulated leather covering.

I then covered it with some thin foam and the sim-leather and slid in the toys.

I then installed it the tray back in the truck and I can enjoy 250 gigs of music, pictures, videos, tv, satellite radio, and more. GIGITY GIGITY GOO!!

I had a video of how it works and sound I took on my phone but when I went to upload it I couldn't find it. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics too, I'll get a good video with my camera and upload it for you guys.

Looks good, very resourceful. Is the mount attached to the dash tray, or does it just sit in it? Also, is the music player connected to the radio's Aux input?

Yeah, it's mounted to the tray from the bottom with three screws. And it's connected to the radio. It's powered by a USB cable that I have hidden behind the temp controls. Sounds great on the audiophile system. And surprisingly the web browser pics up hot spots super fast. I wanted to get it in before vacation time because we have a long drive ahead.

you could always use the fiberglass kits to give it better shape / strength. I believe there is a How-To or 20 on here about building sub boxes and stuff with it. Might make it look a little more polished.

That being said, it still looks good! Nicely done!
