beilstein insall... pricey?

i just got back form 4x4 parts here in austin tx... 655 out the door for the install of the Beilstein 5100 HD's...... front and back plus fluids....

this about right....

he mentioned an 85 dollar "look at"... where the guy takes one hour labor and looks over the entire suspension, to tell whats wrong.. i think this comes out of the total cost~..

any input , or locations that do as good a job for cheaper??

thanks guys,
chris

I'm in a low labor cost area of the country - I just had shocks done by a local muffler and brake shop. They don't sell shocks, they tell you to bring a set in and they charge $25 a shock to install them. I also checked with the local Goodyear shop, they sell shocks at a nasty markup and charge book labor to change them, which would have been about $35 a shock for my truck. I bought Gabriel Ultras at Autozone for $34 each, Goodyear wanted $68 each for the same thing.

I don't know if book time is higher or lower for your truck than mine - I have a 2wd OBS.

Pricey on a 2005, but not pricey on a 2003. If you price includes the shocks, then it is a good price.

that it does... thats the 2 back shocks, plus the 2 struts in the front....

i'll probably have to dump in another 200 for bushings, ball joints, and all that fun stocker stuff that needs to be replaced after 103k....

The 04 went to struts? That explains a higher labor cost.

Yeah, so why is everyone saying the 04+ trucks should be LESS? It's the other way around.

I was quoted around $200 for install on my 2005 here. Didn't seem to bad at the time.

Still not sure what "fluids" you are talking about.

5100's are backordered...grrrr.r.. till mid July here in austin tx.... just called to setup an appt.

149 fronts
75 backs

300 install just on shocks....says they have to compress to install....ok...

... ...this that..831......for that....

now that didn't include alignment.....nor new upper and lower balljoints and bushings.. if needed.....

sound right?
