Keeping the undercarriage/body clean
What was your process for doing this and how long did it take you
Has anyonne tried Putting por15 (clear) on the wheel wells? How does thus stuff look? Can someone post before and after pictures. How about a coat if rusto over por15? Anyone tried that?
And yes, I wish I had a pressure washer but it still wouldn't do me any good in the winter when the landlord shuts off the water outside so pipes don't burst... You guys down south have it easier with the weather!

When it is below freezing for weeks at a time, yes.
But let's not turn this int a discussion about washing the truck...
Does anyone have pictures after using Por-15? Looking for some first hand critics of the product.

Its been an ongoing process since 2008! I use a paint brush because I do not want any overspray with a rattle can + I can put on a thicker coat! I do it mostly in the spring & summer months. I touch it up every year whatever needs it! I even did the rear wheel wells! Looks awesome!!!........

I feel your pain as a fellow New Englander. I take very good care of all my vehicles and do a good job spraying under this truck at least once a week. All my life doing so has kept all my vehicles in good shape underneath. I just sold a 2000 Grand Cherokee we've had since 2001 and there was very little rust underneath. Being my wife's daily driver most of those years, it was taken care of nowhere near as well as mine always are.
In contrast, my 2007 F-150 looks like HELL underneath already. The black chassis paint Ford used on these trucks really sucks...at least on my truck it does. Even my tow hook has some surface rust starting on it. VERY discouraging, considering that I was planning to keep this truck a long time. Now I envision what it would be like under there when it's 10+ years old and starts to need some work underneath, dealing with rusted-to-hell fasteners and parts.
I think risupercrewman might be practicing the only real solution...re-paint or paint over all that crappy-*** factory paint.

Digging up this old thread, noticed a little bit of surface rust underneath my 2010, a bit on my bds suspension components too. Looks like im stuck between rustoleum and por15. Sounds like rustoleum is easier and cheaper, anybody have pictures of either? I already put a quick coat of rattle can on my rear axle and lower control arm and cross member, but its already coming off the control arm, the axle still looks good.

Yea, not gonna catch me outside in around or below freezing tryin to pull out my powerwasher lol.
I agree tho, just hit the crap out of the underbody. I have step bars on mine, and I usually hit under the wells REALLY well, especially the lip where mud and salt mud likes to stick. Then I bend the nozzle up and under the the bars and between body edge n frame rail. Then try to get the middle much as you can without layin in the water, kinda just aiming by feel and shootin water under there, haha.
Then in the back I curl the nozzle around to the inside of the bed body panels, in and around the back bumper area, then duck down and spray up under the bed flat area, etc. I unforunately have to drive dirt road a lil too, compounding the nastiness under there. Especially this winter which has been so freeze snow thaw rain mud repeat.

I hear ya man. What's odd is when i bought this truck back in dec. 11, also an 07, the black paint under the rear especially looked so much better. In a few months time I am already seein some surface rust around the shock mounts, etc...and I wash this thing like crazy. Barely goes 2 days with any kinda mud or salt left on it. Dealer musta touched up over some of that rust where it was totally visible, LOL!
And, if you wanna do it right painting over it, you basically need to get that rust off first, OR buy the kinda stuff that is made to paint over light rust and i dunno neutralize it or whatever I would have to think (and a lil more expensive). Gonna be a project for the summer, probably pick areas and do them one by one if I can't dedicated a whole day to do it all at once.

i started applying rustoleum this past summer and its held up through ohio winter
i bought a dremel to touch up some spots bit i bought my truck in arizona so it was virtually rust free any ways
I didnt completely finish the job last year but this year i plan on using the cheap 1$ can spray paint to paint under neath my truck white(very light coat) then going over it with the black 7$ a can rustoleum bed liner
painting it white first cause since its already black i wanna make sure i hit everything
