XLT to FX2 gauge cluster swap ?'s
I need a new cluster anyways for my 05 XLT and I wanted to get an FX2 cluster for it, since I found one for cheap. The bulb behind my digital display went out and Ford said that's the only fix. What do I have to do for the conversion to work properly?
You should get your current milage programmer into the new cluster. Most ford dealers cannot do this. Find a spedometer shop I googled spedometer + Detroit for my local area. Then the cluster should be plug and play from xlt to fx. 2/4. Lots of guys talk about getting as built data programmed into it. Don't waste your time and money until you find a reason to.

I would seriously question this since it's been a popular topic on these boards. Mine went out and all it took was a couple dollars for a new bulb (I think I used a number 37 bulb) from Advance Auto and about 5 to 10 minutes to replace. I believe I've read where others were told the same as you only to find out it was just a bulb replacement.
