BRoken strut

2004 screw lariat
today while driving my passenger side strut broke and my front end dropped.
it appears that the lower cup that holds the spring broke right off!!!
now down to business.
1. i don't have a spring compressor can i buy a strut pre assembled with a coil that i can drop right in???
2. i should probably do both sides????
3. when i leveled with a 2.5 spacer i noticed the bottom of my spring coil was broken and missing i'd say 3 inches of the bottom coil (broke right off) on both sides d+p. it still sat in the cup fine and didn't seem to bother anything.
4. im not looking for a super strut i barely ever tow and i stay on the pavement with stock rims and tires.

how should i handle this problem and where should i get parts???
thanks in advance

You can rent a spring compressor from an auto parts store i rented one from auto zone when i changed out my shocks for the billstein shocks. get a hanes manuel it will tell you how to take the strut out, as for the parts that you need, you will need to take apart your broken strut and see if the lower cup is broken. if it is, I do beleve that the cup is a factory ford part available at a dealership. if you are wanting a complete setup out of the box check out rockauto.com they have complete strut assembleys for sale
