Parking brake shoes

Has anybody else had trouble with their parking brake shoes falling apart? I kept noticing a light grinding sound at slow speeds for a couple of days i thought that it might be a ujoint going out, so i jacked up the rearend and started checking. I noticed that the drivers side was making the noise, when i pulled the rotor off a hundred pieces fell out on the ground and the shoes were nothing but metal. so i replaced them and drove the truck for a week and today i started noticing that the rearend was making a ticking sound at slow speeds so i jacked up the passenger side and the shoe pads had seperated from the metal. my parking brakes are not touching when they are released, so i dont know why it has done this.

This happened to my old (2002) F-150 and also to my dads super duty (2003), I think crappy parking brakes are pretty much the way it goes with our trucks
