Where to put nickel anti-sieze

I am brand new here so forgive me if this has been talked about before. I am about to tackle the spark plugs on my '04 FX4 and have received really great info here. Thanks to all who have posted. I have read the TSB and it shows to put the anti-seize below the threads and I am wondering how this helps if it is not on the threads. Can anyone shed some light?

The threads are nickel coated and need no anti sieze. You put the high heat nickel anti sieze on the long shank below the threads. THis helps keep carbon from building up and causing them to break on removal. Do not get it on the strap or tip, either. Use dielectic grease on the boots.
