So my tail gate lock has never worked the key would not turn. So today I put some lube fluid in it and it worked it is now locked.... Now I cannot unlock it is ther a trick to it? It turns freely back and forth but will not unlock. Kinda hard to get the dirtbike in the back with it up..

 

No trick. It sounds like yours has a problem. There is a panel on the inside of the tailgate you can remove. You should be able to access the back tailgate lock from there and unlock manually. Thanks for the info ab46501, I took it apart today, there is a little plastic clip that acts as a guide for the lock arm, it had what I call a christmas tree pin on it, and it was not holding anymore, So I broke out my trusty Zap straps, best invention ever, I use them on everything.
