Tailgate oval badge removal?

How is the tailgates oval Ford badge held on? I ordered a new billet badge and was curious if it was just taped on or if it had studs holding it on. Thanks in advance.

Drop the tail gate down and remove the star headed screws, remove the plate and you have access to the emblem. I personally have never done it, only what I was told but it seems logical. I am sure someone will chime in and confirm.

You need to heat it up with a hair dryer and use some fishing line like a "floss" to loosen the glue that holds it. There are two pins that keep it straight towards the center. Don't pry it off like the body shop did mine. It leaves little dents all the way around the emblem. They're just basically taped on with two sided tape.

I ended up using a snapon "panel popper" heated around the emblem, then wrapped the panel poper in a t-shirt, and went around the emblem lifting at different areas. It came off so perfect that the double side tape di dnt rip at all, and was in perfct condition. I jsut reheated that tape with a heat gun and put the new emblem on and it stuck just as well as the OEM piece. Not one dent or chip using the panel popper and t-shirt, just take your time

fishing line and a blow dryer / heat gun.

you dont need to drop the tail gate and remove the bedliner liner, you cant get to it that way.
