I just bought...
I got the 4.6L and I like it.. The 5.4 doesnt seem that diff on the ones Ive driven.
So the 160* Thermo is not a good idea.
Also yes I got the Chrome Metal CAI Tube and love it and looks awesome.

For what its worth I have a whipple blower for my 06 mustang GT (4.6)...in the kit it has a new T stat I believe a 160. I have the aeroforce interceptor gauges and my coolant temps sit at 190-192 currently in this weather in south Louisiana. I have not seen what it is in winter since I just got the gauges. I have had the blower on the car since 06 and have had 0 problems. The lower T stat I believe just means the fans are on at 160....if you have the 190 stat in the fans come on then but I bet the temps are more in the 200+ range. Not positive on this if someone can verify. This is also if I actualy have a coolant temp sensor...still learning but it might be that the coolant is infered from another temp sensor.
Also the metal vs plastic cai tube I feel is not a big deal. One of the best intakes (C&L) that makes the most power for the mustang is a metal one. I feel the air is moving to fast to really be heated by it....but thats jmo.
