cb tuning questions. experts come help
Like I said EVERY vehicle is different. Run the coax under the carpet. There is plenty of room. 18' is ideal for coax. Run positive and negative from the radio to the battery. Run your ground from the MOUNT to the FRAME. Personally I'd run a 6" stainless steel spring on the antenna.

fivespeedsteed do a search and you will find many posts on cb radio installation and antenna mounting with pictures and its not brain surgery also do a search on the internet and there hundreds and hundreds on installation tips and check out the manufacture web sites they even give you 800 numbers to call for tech help search and you will find. can anyone tell me if properly setup if my setup will do decent or are you all going to tell me to put a 10 foot antenna on my truck.
again
if i setup this antenna (3 foot firestik) will i get decent results. im not trying to peak and tune and reach outerspace, just maybe a mile radius here.
or will it just defect off the roof?
Four pages with only one post of less than correct information and still you have not recieved the answer you WANT. Throw your system in the trash and call Boost mobile. Some people can not be helped! Walking away with hands in the air.
thanks for your valuable advice. (sarcasm) everyone here has said what you said. I did search plenty, and didnt find squat

you hit the nail on the head some people couldn't figure out how to use two cans with a string attached.
all i wanted was actual information on a setup like mine. i dont want a 102 inch whip. its plain and simple. im asking questions about my cb setup that i can get through drive thrus , not the most optimal cb setup i can build.
its a simple question, if i set up this firestik where i have it mounted will my roof deflect too much, or will it be a decent setup halfway. thats it.
if thats too hard to answer then never mind

reviving this thread. i got a stake hole mount installed, on the passenger back side, and a 4 foot firestik, i sanded down underneath where it clamps to real well and now i got the swr down to a 1.8 or so on ch 1 and ch 40. ive found a cb shop down the road about 45 minutes from me he said hed be glad to check it out and see if he can help me get it lower. he said with it mounted close to the cab im getting some interference from the cab with the ant. even though its a good ways above the roof like it is.
again im using a standard midland 1001z
walcott cb 18 foot coax with the removable end, its routed so there is no excess anywhere
firestik stake hole mount
firestik 4 foot ant.
GLC how do you check transmitting power?
this time around i think its performing better, ive grounded the actual cb radio better this time, and before when transmitting it would only light up the first 3 lights, now its lighting up all but the last one.
my friend has a 1001z with a radio shack 3.5 foot magnet mount ant. on his roof, we couldnt get his swr lower than a 3, but i was tlaking to him pretty good from about a half a mile away under power lines, before i could only get maybe a 300 yards out of it at the max.
ill see if this guy i found can tweak my cb any, and then if he can get the swr lower, maybe by grounding the bed to the frame and cab, or something of the sort. i like this ant. setup though, it fits through drive throughs. i would just get a wilson 1000 and put it on the roof, but i dont want to be dragging it everywhere and worry about it messing up the paint under where it mounts to.
also, i can run a ground from the antenna itself and ground it on the bed or frame and that would help correct? would i use sort of a ring terminal in the stack with all the washers below where the firestik screws in?
another question, you all get the guys talking on ch 9 and 11 and all that that are way far away too right? those are guys running peaked and tuned radios? its like one of them is a talk show or something of the sort
