I think when you relieve back pressure it will effect the performance of the truck. On my blown 06 gt with the reduction of back pressure the boost drops. The power drops a tad too but you can pulley down to regain the boost pressure and more power than before becasue its all more efficient.

It will affect performance on our trucks, but nothing you would notice. Differences in power could be more recognizable from using different gas stations between fill ups.

It will not harm the vehicle however, which is what I believe he was asking.

It will most likely cause a drop in preformance off the line, but your CATS will heat up more..suggest a good set of turbo's to replace the stock ..greatsound and no difference in preformance, and depending where you live if you have a yearly inspection , these days they most likely will not pass it

I agree it wouldn't harm anything...I think you would have a slight drop in TQ and might feel that on take off like suggested. Depends on how much pressure is lost.

As for sound...I would think it would sound good but I also run longtubes, off road H, and some straight through frpp mufflers on my whippled GT so I like loud.

Running straights will not reduce torque or power. Back pressure is a myth cooked up by rednecks who don't understand the concept of exhaust flow.

I have done this on my truck, removed muffler and just put elbow with it going out before the wheel, did it about a year ago have not noticed any difference at all, and love the sound it made, low rumble, not to loud but very noticeable I get asked all the time what I am running for mufflers, I like the look on peoples face when I say there is none.
