Help with bug sheilds
Help with bug sheilds
I'm looking for a bug shield since summer is here and the windsheild is already covered.
I'm looking for something that looks good but is functional. I want to see what you guys have installed. Pros vs. Cons.
I'd like something dark tint/smoke colored or clear that I can paint.
I know there are tons of places to get these things, but if all the pics they show on the web sites is just the visor, it's hard to picture the sheild installed.
Please show pics if you can. I's also open to recommendations for model numbers and where to buy from.
Thanks for the help

Had this AVS bugshield on my truck for about 5 yrs. Kind of protected the front from bugs more so then keeping them off the windshield. Also caused a lot of turbulence at the windshield cowl area at highway speeds. Got tired of the look and took it off and changed out the grille while I was at it. Got rid of the strange noises too caused by the turbulence coming in through the cowl area. Also use to cause the rear of my hood to lift up at high speeds. Like it better off. Just my 2 cent's.
They really add more protection from rocks than bugs... I live where in the spring it's bug city... It offers some airfoil streaming but I still have to clean the front window...

I got mine directly form Ford. I like the style...

I've got the stainless steel one.
It creates a lot of turbulance at high speeds.
Hood shakes.
Windsheild trim rattles.
If I were to get one again I'd not get one.

Thanks guys... From what I read I think I'll pass on the bug sheild. I drive over 100+ miles per day sometimes and I really don't want any air turbulance or the hood shaking. while driving.
JD I'm not a big fan of brush guards, but yours looks killer. Very NICE
