i use both nada and kbb, and kbb doesnt just post the excellent condition price as you can see from my early post i copied from my search results. nada came in just a little higher than kbb on his truck in my area, I but and sell alot of motorcycles and use them regularly when buying but basically just look around the general market to see what is worth..ie craigslist and other FS ads

Thanks for the help guys. I am going to ask 14k with everything on and see what happens i can always go lower and im sure all potential buys are going to want to deal and I will be willing to do so.

I have an 07 FX4, all a dealer will give me for a trade in is 11k. It has no mods except true duals, to me when you mod it you narrow the list of people that will want to buy it later. It is in excellent condition but has high miles for its age, 92k at 3 years old. So really all I can do at this point is drive it until it falls apart which is hopefully after I pay it off!

I just bought my 04 FX4 3 months ago so it's all fresh in my memory. The owner was asking $13K and came down to $11K when he realized I was serious and not just kicking tires. Craigslist is a great source of info to see what similar trucks are going for in your specific area. The dealers were in the $14-17K range for the same type truck. I felt I got a great deal and it gave me the room to "customize" it to my tastes with bigger tires/wheels, tonnueu cover, nerf bars, and maybe a sub under the rear seat. The point is, as others have said, the options I'm adding just make the truck more personalized to my tastes but don't necessarily add more value. Again, the truck is worth whatever someone will pay for it and I don't think $13-14K is out of line for a well maintained and optioned vehicle. Bottom line is ask what you want to get out of it and gauge the response you get on CL. You can always come down for a serious buyer but it's real tough to raise the price once it's posted. Good luck.

I paid 18K cash over that for the F-150, which had been on the lot for 18 months... so 24K total. That was 10K under sticker. I would guess trade for my 08 is about 19K right now with 20,000 miles. I think it has held it's value better because it was on the lot for such a long time, and when I bought it they had 09s on the lot, but not near the factory rebate so I went with the 08, plus the 08 was more my pocketbook's ballpark and had nearly everything I wanted.
I must be reading something wrong here. Are you trying to say that the sticker price for a new 08' that was only an XL was 34K? Seems a little off to me.

Either way, the XL trucks do not hold thier value like the nicer modeled trucks do. Simply not as big of a aftermarket demand for them for the average truck buyer.
