what is it

OK so my truck has like a popping/grinding noise i cant really describe it. When I'm backing up and going slow it like shakes my truck and feels like the rear or something is slipping but if i give it gas it still moves really well it makes sounds sometimes but its under like 10 mph. i went and got my fluids changed last Friday and it still does it. my truck is a 2006 and only has 36,000 miles on it and its a fx4 if that helps. i don't know what it is if any of y'all have any ideas, its kinda like something is sticking and then rolls over and shakes and like a thud or something. but it also does it the most when i am turning when backing up and over like 10 mph there is nothing. should i get someone to look at it or what?

any help would be great thanks.

will

From what your saying I'm going to take a wild guess because the decription isnt too clear. But where do you hear the noise from the front or the back of the truck? And is this when your in 4x4 or 4x2? I think it's something to do with maybe your sway bars or Ujoints and or Bearings but that would only make noise if your turning. Now I'm not sure if I'm anywhere close the the right answer but that's my guesses. To check these just wiggle the tire back and forth to see how much play they have.

It's towards the back of the truck and it's when I'm in 4x2 and it does it more when I'm turning at slow speeds but will still do it when I'm not turning but when I have the wheel turned it does it more.

I was thinking maybe the rear differential. Did you also have that fluid replaced? You shouldn't need it with only 36k miles unless the seal has somehow been broken.

You might also want to check to see if all of the suspension components are tightened down.

It looks like from your signature photo that you have aftermarket wheels and tires. I'm guessing you would have noticed this before, but are the tires or wheels rubbing on anything?

Like LateKnightRides mentioned, your description is fairly vague. Maybe a video would help.

Yes I have after market wheels and tiresand have a 2 inch leveling kit but this just started could offroading do something too because I have taken it offroading quite a bit. Nothings rubbing I have checked that. Sorry it's hard to explain I will try to get a video too but it's like the rear binds up then let's go and let's it roll again if that makes sence

Yes kinda I guess like it harden up's and let's go but tonight I was testing it like slow reverse and drive and I put my wheels straight and went and there was no popping or anything but as soon as I turn the wheel it starts popping and it's more on the right when I turn like left it pops harder then when I turn to the right so what do you think it could be and people I ask them when there in my truck to tell me what they think is feels like and they said slipping feeling but it just like shakes my truck then I turn the wheel at like 5 mph.

I'd jack up the rear.
Block the fronts.
Put her in nuetral.
Give the rears a spin by hand.
Pay attention to the u joints also.
Check your rotors/pads.
Make sure the e brake isn't hanging up.
Worst case is pull the rear diff cover and check the guts. For loose worn and broken parts.
